<p align="justify">In May 2007, Pure Aqua successfully supplied an Industrial Reverse Osmosis Kit to produce 200 GPM of product from 250 GPM feed, antiscalant chemical dosing, prechlorination and chemical dosing, acid injection dosing, and dechlorination dosing systems. Feed water to the package is processed water with a raw water TDS of about 1,500 PPM. The package design was based on a high rejection TFC spiral wound low fouling membrane. The Reverse Osmosis Kit was selected from our RO-500 Series, model # BW-360K-8680-3 It produces 200 GPM of drinking water with TDS less than 100 mg/L. The Reverse Osmosis Package consists of 5-micron cartridge filters to reduce feed water Silt Density Index (SDI) and to limit the SS to 5-micron size. TFC spiral wound membranes have a recovery rate of 80% with an advanced microprocessor control panel and cleaning system.</p>

The Membrane BioReactor (MBR) is a qualified sewage treatment machine using Pure Aqua&rsquo;s water treatment expertise with Toray&rsquo;s submerged membrane technology.</p>

<p align="justify"><strong>Water Concern</strong> Total dissolved solids (TDS) is the most commonly used measure of water quality. High accounts of TDS refer to elevated amounts of contaminants present usually in parts per million (PPM). Hotels utilize water in almost every part of their facility. From kitchens to pools to showers, water quality is integral to offering an exceptional customer experience. Elevated TDS levels in water can result in a variety of negative effects like taste and odor. Turbidity is another common issue that occurs with elevated TDS. In general, the term TDS is used to account for all the dissolved solids which can include specific harmful elements as well. Calcium and magnesium are two elements that are often present in water and they contribute to the hardness levels. Reducing the TDS would reduce the accounts of these elements and prevent the damage of any surfaces in contact with the water. Therefore, a purification system is necessary to provide for this industry&rsquo;s water source to supply the multiple applications with almost zero TDS.</p>

The source of the water was municipal water of around 500 PPM TDS. For this particular customer we solely provided the reverse osmosis machine without pre/post treatment. The reverse osmosis machine was built to produce the capacity of 130,000 gallons per day and reduce the TDS level of 500 PPM TDS to less than 20 PPM. This will ensure the quality of water supplied to the hotel is completely purified and will only complement the various applications necessary.</p>

<div style="display: inline !important;"><span><strong>Water Challenges:</strong>&nbsp;Seawater reverse osmosis systems are built for highly inconsumable water sources like the sea, removing enormous amounts of salt and other contaminants from them. These systems are important in delivering greater quantities of freshwater to labor camps that are woefully undersupplied clean water. Reverse osmosis works by denying salts, particulates, and other contaminants from carrying on, water molecules are only permitted through the tiny pores of the membrane. Fresh, purified water emerges on the permeate side and is ready to be collected while salt, particulates, and other contaminants are discharged into a drain from the concentrate side. This process is efficient in producing fresh and potable water to all members within labor camps with high quality drinking water.</span></div>

<p>These systems came complete with an advanced PLC, cleaning and flushing systems, coagulant, pre &amp; post de-chlorination, and antiscalant dosing systems. Feed water to the system is well seawater. The system design was based on high rejection TFC Spiral wound low fouling membranes. The Desalination Plant produced 132,000 GPD at a maximum 45,000 PPM feed water TDS while the Ion exchange System produced 132,000 GPD with less than 200 ppm feed water TDS. From its initial start-up in June 2010, the systems have been running smoothly with minimal trouble-shooting. As a result, the military base has a reliable and steady supply of drinkable water at a cost far less than shipping water to the site.</p>

Supplying water from a well source usually includes an abundance of elevated parameters. The concern for this customer was reducing the TDS levels to accommodate the intended applications of the facility. This customer had a well water supply that contained 8,000 PPM TDS and was looking to produce 600,000 GPD.</p>

<p align="justify"><strong><span>Applied Solution</span></strong><span>: This <a href="https://www.pureaqua.com/industrial-brackish-water-reverse-osmosis-bwro-systems/">industrial brackish RO equipment</a> was recommended and constructed for a public mall facility in Kuwait. The capacity of this RO equipment was 600,000 GPD and the product is intended to be the main supply of water for the facility. This system includes the necessary pre-treatment and post-treatment units that keep the RO equipment functioning efficiently without any problems. Part of this pre-treatment is duplex multimedia filter to reduce turbidity and suspended solids. The pre-treated water continues on to a 5-micron cartridge filter to further reduce any leftover suspended solids and is injected with sodium metabisulfite along with antiscalant for chlorine reduction prior to reaching the RO membranes. Then, the water is pressurized by high-pressure pumps through the RO membranes that will raise the pressure to 300 PSI. The water exiting the system results in a product and reject stream.</span></p>
