<p><strong>Water Challenges: </strong>The characteristics of chemicals throughout groundwater is determined by the gases and minerals reacting with the water in its generally slow passage through the Earth&rsquo;s crust. Extensive variations in groundwater quality are brought by many variables in various water sources. Dissolved minerals such as silica and sulphate produce corrosiveness among water which leads to the deterioration of water treatment equipment, steam boilers, water pipes, etc. Measures to avoid this from occurring involves utilizing active agents that work to minimize these unwanted effects and maintaining pH stability in treated water. If properly treated, the feed water will reach a balance where the additional of more dissolved substances will no longer occur.</p>

To illustrate, imagine a semi-permeable membrane with fresh water on one side and a concentrated aqueous solution on the other side. If normal osmosis takes place, the fresh water will cross the membrane to dilute the concentrated solution. In reverse osmosis, pressure is exerted on the side with the concentrated solution to force the water molecules across the membrane to the fresh water side.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p align="justify">The commercial brackish water reverse osmosis units were selected from our RO-200 series, model numbers TW-0.6K-125 through TW-6.0K-440. These units consists of high rejection, TFC spiral wound membranes that have a recovery rate of 60% for permeate water. Each unit has an advanced microprocessor control panel, used to navigate and measure the flow rates. Most of these models use 1 to 4 membranes for water and salt separation. Reverse osmosis occurs when the water is moved across the membrane against the concentration gradient, from lower concentration to higher concentration. The water pressure is exerted on the side of the membrane with the concentrated solution to force the water molecules across the membrane to the fresh water side.</p>
<p align="justify">Each unit has the capacity to clean water with a TDS of 2,000 ppm or lower, being able to clean tap water and high salinity water. All of these units are designed to operate at a temperature range of 25 Celsius or above. These systems are capable of removing salts and other impurities with a molecular weight greater than 150-250 Dalton. The feed water first passes through a heavy duty 5 micron sediment filter to remove odor and taste, it then goes through an RO membrane for the separation of salt and water. In the final stage the water gets post treated through an ultra violet sterilizer to disinfect the water before consumption. Each unit is equipped with a low and high pressure switch for safety precaution.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p align="justify">From its initial start-up, the machine has been working properly with minimal trouble-shooting. A quality reverse osmosis machine is designed to deliver high quality service by removing massive amounts of salt and other impurities from wells, lakes, rivers, and the ocean through a process called &#8216;reverse osmosis&#8221;.&nbsp;The process of reverse osmosis deals with the use of a high pressure pump which applies extreme pressure to the high saline concentrated side of a semi-porous membrane, combatting a natural process called &#8220;Osmosis&#8221;. Naturally, osmosis transports salt through a semi-porous membrane from a region with low saline concentration to a region with high saline concentration. Its goal is to gain an equal quantity of saline concentration on both sides of the membrane. With the use of the high pressure pump, reverse osmosis comes in to direct osmosis to the opposite direction. The pump applies high pressure to the highly concentrated saline side of the membrane, pushing salty water and other impurities across the membrane, only allowing water molecules to flow through. Salt and the impurities are rejected and later thrown into the drain on the concentrate side. In the end, we obtain purified water with 99% less dissolved salts on the permeate side of the membrane.&nbsp;</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p align="justify">Pure Aqua, Inc. modular design and the use of fiber reinforced pressure vessels, Grundfos multi stage SS pump, advanced PLC control panel with colored touch panel, make these modular units one of the most compact units in the water treatment industry.</p>
<p align="justify">The overall reverse osmosis water treatment plant design used a total of 378 reverse osmosis low-pressure membrane elements housed in 54 pressure vessel assemblies.</p>
<p align="justify">The plant is designed as three identical stand alone operating trains which provide more operating flexibility. Reverse Osmosis also known as hyper filtration, is used to purify water and remove salts and other impurities. It is also capable of rejecting bacteria, sugars, proteins, dyes, and other constituents that have a molecular weight of greater than 150-250 Dalton. <p align="justify"><strong>SYSTEMS &amp; PROCESS</strong></p>
<p align="justify">Feed water to the system is processed water with raw water TDS about 1250 PPM. &nbsp;The system design was based on high rejection TFC spiral wound low fouling membranes.</p>
<p align="justify">The Brackish Reverse Osmosis unit consists of 5-micron cartridge filters to reduce feed water Silt Density Index (SDI) and to limit the SS to 5-micron size. It also includes RO membranes feed high pressure pump and TFC spiral wound membranes to reduce the TDS.</p>

<p align="justify">The RO membranes remove total dissolved solids (TDS), TOC, BOD and COD after MBR. The RO membrane permits the passage of water molecules but is a barrier to most of the ions, viruses and bacteria in the water.</p>

Brackish water is typically a combination of pure water and seawater leaving in at a medium level of salinity. A medium level of salinity however, is not acceptable for consumption. To master this mission, the systems take use of a popular technology known as &#8220;reverse osmosis&#8221;. Reverse osmosis is ordered with the reversal of a natural process known as &#8220;osmosis&#8221;. Osmosis is ordered by nature to transport salt through a semi-permeable membrane from an area of low solute concentration to an area of higher solute concentration in order to gain an even amount of solute concentration on both sides of the membrane. Reverse osmosis combats osmosis via a pressure pump which exerts high pressure to the highly concentrated side of the semi-permeable membrane, moving only water molecules through the small pores of the membrane while salts, organics, and other contaminants are denied passage. Potable water finally emerges and is gathered on the permeate side of the membrane, while salts and the other contaminants are thrown into a brine stream then into a drain.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p align="justify">Feed water to the apparatus is processed water with raw water TDS of about 2450 PPM. The apparatus design was based on high rejection TFC spiral wound low fouling membranes. The Reverse Osmosis Apparatus was selected from our RO-400 Series, model number BW-108K-3580. It produces 63 gpm of drinking water with TDS less than 50 mg/L. The BWRO Unit consists of 8&#8243;x40&#8243; Hydranautics ESPA2 membrane elements, Codeline 8&#8243; diameter FRP side ported pressure vessels, controlled by microprocessor with digital TDS read out, hi/low tank level switches, hi/low pressure switches, SS multistage pump and inlet shut off valve.</p>
<p align="justify">From a feed TDS of about 2,450 mg/L at temperature range of 25&deg;C, the system produces 90,000 gpd of high quality water at less than 50ppm. Since the time of its start-up in January 2008, the apparatus has been running smoothly with minimal troubleshooting.</p>
